epiphanies: malarkey and cigarette smoke (Default)

i've been watching band of brothers the past couple of days (it's pretty much [livejournal.com profile] awoken's fault, she's been trying to get me to watch for ages and i've been hesistant, lmao.)
strangely, despite all of the horrifying (and real) shit that happens in this series, it wasn't until six episodes in, when doc roe is offering his chocolate to babe after his friend died, that i cried. that whole episode got me in a way the others hadn't (...even though i was like, hyperventilating at the start of the second ep. like, how in the world would you prepare yourself for the fact that you're about to jump out of a freaking plane into a battlefield - when some of you have no real experience in actual warfare - and just. ugh. war is horrible;; ), because i think i relate a bit better to the viewpoint of a medic than i do to the viewpoint of a soldier, and everything had finally started sinking in.

SO YES. SERIES IS GOOD, I'M NOT DONE YET, BUT. hng;; and the cinematography! gorgeous. i want to icon it all so bad.

and everyone is so damn shippy. (them too.)

basically when i'm finished and not in the midst of migraine!haze!of!doom (thus the sketch, drawing always distracts me from health issues. still waiting on a email back from doc regarding POTS. nervous to increase my salt intake too much without talking to a doc first!;; ) i'll make a longer post about this show (+fandom, perhaps).

re: fandoms and shows -- ...i feel like i'm always so very late to the party.
