miss [livejournal.com profile] rivlee and i were chatting yesterday about nostalgic songs from our childhood/etc and how it'd be lovely to make mixes of these, and. well, i made one, lmao. these are all songs that make me feel quite nostalgic and comforted - this is a mix of the music my mom used to play when i was about five or six years old; i'd come home from a half day of kindergarten and then she'd put on one of her cds and i'd dance in the living room for a few hours. i have a huge, huge soft spot for loreena mckennitt because of this (and because her music = beautiful. the highway man is purposely last on this mix because i adore the poem, and it's such a sad, intense song.) and, well, pretty much all of these singers. b*witched is the only group that was actually a cd i had bought/been given as a gift (well, and the lion king, which we had on tape and had been my brother's or sister's xD), rather than music of my mother's, and celine dion's my heart will go on is the only song that i've ever called in to a radio to ask if they could play it (albeit, it was radio disney and i'm not sure if i called in or made my brother, but). she also had a huge thing for riverdance and the soundtracks, but i remember these songs most clearly.

enjoy! =D (and feel free to nostalgia it up yourself!)

I love Loreena McKennitt. She was pretty much all over every mix I ever made to help me write Tolkien fic. (Enya, not so much. I'm odd like that.)

(of course I don't. I'm just not going other things I need to be doing. Though let me tell you? Writing Haldane and Leckie together? So much fun. Who knew? I like to think that it's b/c Haldane sees right though Leckie's bullshit, but knows the guy needs some like, positive male father figure in his life.) Blame the mysterious multiple migraines

when i was in seventh grade my english teacher pulled out The Highway Man poem for us to read, and i was like ...I KNOW THIS POEM BY HEART. LOREENA FTW. i like to play her music -- like, Night Ride Across the Caucasus -- whenever i do yoga xD(i haven't heard as much of enya, in general, but i always really liked Wild Child)

(/sobs. I'M SORRY FOR DISTRACTING YOU LMAO. and omg, i can totally see how that would be fun. oh haldane, you're pretty much awesome, in general, seriously.) /cries;; OH MAN, i mentioned this in the post below this one, but. after the multiple spider encounters yesterday? totally had one crawling on my dresser in my room at like three in the morning that night. :|| wtf is up with this.

seriously idek. I ALSO UH, MURDERED IT BECAUSE IT KIND OF TERRIFIED ME, and then felt super guilty for a long time after. i'm sorry little spider;;'

i do consider spiders a good sign ["The spider awakens creative sensitivities. It weaves a web of intricate and subtle fabric, as if to remind us that the past always subtly influences the present and future. Often the webs will take a spiral shape, the traditional form of creativity and development. The spider inside the web reminds us that we are the center of our own world. We are the keepers and the writers of our own destiny, weaving it like a web by our thoughts, actions, and feelings.

...spider is considered the teacher of language and the magic of writing. Those who weave magci with the written word probably have a spider totem."] but i'd rather that they and i kept a respectful distance from each other lmao. like. a window. :|
