It’s fucking pouring—the kind of rain that sticks his clothes to his skin and presses humidity deep into his bones. It’s not as bad as the rain on fucking Guadalcanal because Snafu figures this is gonna let up soon—figures that San Francisco ain’t got shit on the tiny specks of dirt and shit in the Pacific—but that doesn’t mean he has to like it. He can’t light a fucking cigarette without the rain drowning it out for one and that already brings his mind back to blood colored dirt and skulls half eaten, collecting puddles in the rain.

He’s sitting underneath a tiny overhang, barely enough to keep his back damp and not soaked, leaving a wet smear against the door of the closed store. He’s minding his own goddamn business when, “Hey.”

He looks up, sullen expression and projecting his best fuck-off hunch.

“You’re goddamn soaked. You got an umbrella?”

Snafu regards the other man. He’s wearing a dress shirt with a hole in the shoulder, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The bottom of his too-long trousers are soaked from the rain. The cloth of his umbrella isn’t attached to two of the spokes.

“What’s it to you? Gonna give me yours?”

The man laughs, “You’re a long way from home, Louisiana. What the hell you doing all the way out here?”

Snafu rolls his shoulders and licks the rain off his upper lip. “Traveling.”

“Fuckin’ ambitious for someone who doesn’t even have an umbrella.”

Snafu shrugs.

“Hey,” the man says, “You need to go somewhere? I can drive you.” He gestures to the cab parked at the curb in front of the closed store.

Snafu looks at it, “I ain’t got money.”

“I’m off for the night,” the man says, “I’m just doing my good deed for the day.”

Snafu’s lip curls, “I ain’t a charity case.”

“Hell,” the man says, “I’m offering you a fucking free ride. You gonna get in the car or what?”

Snafu looks at the man before pushing himself to his feet. The rain hits the back of his head and he’s waiting for the man to say never mind, tell him to sit the fuck down, good joke. But the man is just unlocking the doors to his cab and saying, “Hurry the fuck up.”

Snafu goes.

I have, no word of a lie, been waiting for exactly this ever since I first started watching Friendship Is Magic. (Tried drawing some, but it's a hard style to imitate.)

It's uncanny how accurate Speirs looks; like, that is his face, it's just on a pony. Webster and Johnny both have particularly brilliant choices of mane and facial expression, and Leckie, oh god, I laughed out loud. (Though, what, no Ack-Ack and Hillbilly ponies? Aw.)

I would totally collect these if they were real. Hell, I'm tempted to try repaints, you can get the old 80s ones dirt cheap second-hand. But more likely I'm just gonna keep mentioning this until somebody writes fic.



As for your new ship - that's kind of a terrifying prospect, but I kinda wanna see it. Or just interaction between them in general. I can't decide if they'd fuck or tear each other apart. Or both at once.

I SO WOULD COLLECT THESE IF THEY WERE REAL TOO. HONESTLY, IF SOMEONE MADE THEM, YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY THEY WOULD MAKE? we'd all buy them, lmfao. and totally start prodding people for fic, every fandom deserves some crack!pony fic, okay. i would write it myself but everything i touch ficwise turns to angst :|


definitely check out awoken's mix, it's beautifully done and cemented the idea of them in my head. --the ship actually came from a conversation where i was talking about how the guys' reactions to war/ability to cope later on in life can be different depending on their experiences in life before the war, and both snafu and liebgott were ones i think definitely had trauma/harsh lives pre-war, which comes out a lot in their reactionary actions/violence/or dissociative indifference in snafu's case--- and LMAO IT WAS A LOT MORE IN DEPTH THAN THIS LITTLE BLURB, but the point is: it ended up having me think of the two of them at the same time, and really ...they'd be so destructive and dysfunctional but there's something a little kind of beautiful (and totally sexy) about them at the same time. I THINK THE WHOLE "FUCK AND TEAR EACH OTHER APART BOTH AT ONCE" is a pretty good explanation.
